Embedded Software / Firmware Engineer
The department
The R&D department consists of 18 FTE and includes employees with backgrounds in electronics, chemistry, mechanical engineering, and software. Together, they work closely on modifications to existing applications and are also responsible for developing entirely new applications. The department works in a multidisciplinary way, often on a project basis, with product quality being a top priority.
As an Embedded Software Engineer, you are independent, decisive, and driven by quality. You enjoy working in an agile environment and have no difficulty reusing or adapting software developed by others.
The role
- Develop embedded software for new Skalar analyzers and maintain and improve existing embedded software
- Test embedded software (in collaboration with the test engineer)
- Provide support for production and the helpdesk
- After thorough analysis and consultation, determine technical and strategic decisions in the field, enabling management to make well-informed choices
- Assess and help define the technical specifications of the electronics platform
- Collaborate in multidisciplinary project teams
- Program embedded applications in a real-time environment using C/C++
What we ask
- Completed Bachelor’s degree (HBO level) and at least 3 years of experience in embedded software development
- Good command of English and preferably also Dutch
- Knowledge of: RTOS, C, C++, Design Patterns
- Knowledge of standard communication protocols such as TCP/IP, I2C, SPI, CAN bus
- Strong focus on quality: software testing and risk analysis
- Ability to carry out code and design reviews
- Experience with Agile / Atlassian tools / Git
- Ability to read electronic schematics
- Knowledge of laboratory processes is a plus
- Hands-on, can-do mentality
